Because of the curves and grades, average speed over this line is slower than over the Pittsburgh Division, which hurdles the Alleghenies." In the lead is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5385, a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built in Juniata in June of 1924 and retired in June of 1948 after 24 years of service. In this context, they're pulling the Harrisburg-bound section of the "St. Louisan" through Freeland, Maryland. |
