This was during the UP Great Excursion Adventure. I arrived here from Abilene, KS where I saw ATSF 3415 leave town. 2 steam engines in 1 day! Shot on black and white print film.

Description:  The steam crew worked late into the night checking out the bearing on the main rod, grinding it off some by hand, and putting it back together, wrapping up around 2 A.M. and departing at 8. They will nurse it down to Kansas City tomorrow where both the bearing and crankpin will be replaced.

Description:  The prize of the day, UP 844 chuffs up hill with UP 1982 putting on a show doing most of the work, sad to say they were having bearing problems and were 3 hours late today, hopefully that problem will get fixed once they make KC, todays train ran as the SMVKC 29. Leave it to point and shoot cameras to screw up an otherwise good picture.
