Here is a postal card entitled "Pennsylvania 4786." No Postmark. Caption On Reverse: "For a few years before the famed GG-1 started hauling passenger trains under PRR wire, the box cab P-5a graced the front of the Pennsy's named trains. Eventually, though, all were regeared for freight service, including modified cab 4786 shown at Meadows, NJ, July 1960. Photo by Mac Owen." #4786 is a P-5A Modified (2-C-2) built in Juniata during January of 1935, rated at 3,750 horsepower, and retired in January of 1962 after 27 years of faithful service. |
