NKP 2-8-4 #814 - Nickel Plate Road
Title:  NKP 2-8-4 #814 - Nickel Plate Road
Description:  This solid and powerful locomotive was originally built as Wheeling & Lake Erie 2-8-4 Berkshire #6414 by Alco Schenectady in January of 1939. Specs - Specs - serial #69124, K-1 class (NKP S-4 class), 69" drivers, impressive 245 psi boiler pressure, 25x34" cylinders, engine weight of 413,170 lb, tractive effort of 65,135 lb. The loco was merged onto the NKP roster in February of 1952 and renumbered 814. Eventually the loco was sold for scrap to the Luntz Iron & Steel Company in 12/1963. The photo is from the Howard W. ameling collection.

Description:  Date and location unknown. 829 was renumbered 2/52. Stored at Brewster 12/56. Dismantled there 9/64. After some additional research on the lead unit, it seems that NKP leased some articulated 2-6-6-2's from WL&E. USRA Mallets. They were numbered from 8001, 8002, 8003, and 8009 as WL&E and then 940-943 as NKP and all 4 of them were scrapped in 1955 at Luntz. They were Baldwins and were built in September and October of 1919. They were all renumbered in January of 1951.

C&O 2700
Title:  C&O 2700
Description:  C&O 2700 is a 2-8-4 Berkshire, or Kanawha as the C&O called them. She was built by Alco in 1943, and retired around 1956 by the C&O. She was placed on display in a park in Charleston, WV for many years, before being moved to St. Albans, WV in the 1970s. She was moved around several more times during the 80s, and finally ended up in Dennison in the early 1990s. She is currently being cosmetically restored by the Dennison depot museum.
