Chicao Burlington & Quincy Railroad 659 at Denver, Colorado on an unknown day in January 1963, photographer unknown, duplicate slide by Al Chione, Chuck Zeiler collection, Number 659 was built by Pullman on November 20, 1920 as a 12 Section 1 Drawing Room sleeper and named Thurio ( Lot 4591, Plan 2410F - 12 Section - 1 Drawing Room ), ice air-conditioning added June 1, 1937, rebuilt February 20, 1940 to 8-5 configuration Plan 4036F ( 8 Section - 5 Double Bedroom sleeper ) October 10, 1930 and renamed Clover Veldt, sold to the CB&Q December 31, 1948 assigned number 659, sold for scrap to Northwestern Steel and Wire in September 1964. |

CB&Q Pullman heavyweight sleeper #659 (ex-CLOVER VELDT) (Lot #4591, Plan #4036F, November 1920/February 1940, ex-Plan #2410F THURIO), built for assignment to the general service pool, rebuilt in 1940 and still assigned to the general service pool, assigned to the IC for October and November 1940, then assigned to the CB&Q beginning in April 1942, sold to the CB&Q at the 12/31/1948 Pullman divestiture as #643, to #659 (with name removed) in June 1954 (also repainted at that time to the "shadowline" scheme seen here), retired in August 1962 and sold for scrap in September 1964. Scanned with an Epson V550 from a duplicate Ektachrome 35mm slide. Date, location, and photographer are unknown. |
