Built as EMD Demonstrator 4351 December 1965 (c/n 31693) on order #5696, it was powered by a 20 cylinder 645E3 prime mover producing 3600 horsepower. Eventually it was sold to the IC, becoming #7000, the only SD-45 on IC's roster. It was scrapped June 1987. Note the extra large central air intake grill, added sometime after it was built.

Outstanding image of a rare unit, with the AFT right beside! Many thanks for sharing this image

Date has to be July 1975 not Sept. Not sure if AFT passed through Kankakee twice, first going from South Bend to Springfield, IL, but I know they went through Kankakee going from Springfield to Chicago as I was there and was able to hitch a ride with them to Homewood. Either way, the South Bend, Peoria, Springfield displays were in July with Chicago July 28 through Aug. 3 1975.
