Is this owned by a museum or abandoned by Southern?

It was like this 12-years ago. I would say abandoned by the Southern and not worth repair. Can you say "how much does it weigh?"

Being in the woods has probably helped preserve the paint for so long. Left over from the defunct Louisville & Wadley RR. Needs to go to a museum, preferably the Southeastern RR Museum in Atlanta.

Believe it or not, the unit was on the NS locomotive roster until 2003. After that she was all Mr. Billy Gibson's (owner of L&W). He would jump her off and let her idle every once in a while to keep her from freezing up. Hopefully he is still doing it. The is one of 3 SW1's originally owned by the G&F.

Glad that thing is still there. I visited it several years ago. This does need to be preserved

The pictures I posted here of it where taken in 2006. I talked to Billy Gibson the same day and he said he still started it several times a year. He does not own it he leases it. I think the reason he still does is he owns many a freight car he leases which can be seen all over the east coast with LW markings.
