Chicago & North Western Railway RS27 900 at Fremont, Nebraska on June 10, 1962, Kodachrome by Lou Schmitz, Chuck Zeiler collection. Photographs of C&NW's four RS27's (#'s 900-903) are relauively rare, they only lasted around four years (1962-66) before being traded back to Alco for C425's. Alco repainted the returned RS27's and put them in their own lease fleet, leasing them hut during 1967-68, finally selling all four units to Precision National. Number 900 was sold by PNC to Peabody Coal, retaining the C&NW road number. |
