Very nice, that Southern green just looks classy on a f unit.

That was long before that street crossing was closed off. Very nice train, I was 6 years old at the time and the Plaza was still the place to go to shop.

What was that side spur used for? I've always thought it was a way for Bristol to Asheville trains to cut off toward the S-Line (New Line).

As far as I know it was only a dead end spur for the old warehouse building. I once looked and found no evidence it ever connected to the S line.

Well, whenever I cross over the spur behind the medical plaza building, I can tell that with all the grass and weeds covering the tracks, that it's out of comission.

So, now that the old Asheville/Roe Junction line has been taken up, trains going from the Tri-Cities to Asheville go down the old Clinchfield line or switch tracks at Bulls Gap and go down the BL Line to the S Line.

I think that small amount of traffic is picked up by the Bristol-Knoxville local freight and put on Asheville bound trains at the Knoxville yard.

That siding led to a Tobacco Warehouse, I took photos of the 86 ft hoghead tobacco box cars on that siding. Cars too long for any 35 mm lens I had.
