SAL E7 3041
Seaboard Air Line Railroad E7 3041 at Miami, Florida on an unknown day in November 1964, Kodachrome by Keith E. Ardinger, Chuck Zeiler collection. As best I can tell, this unit and 3040 were fitted with aluminum side panels in an experiment to reduce paint costs. I do not know if this was an original EMD application or a railroad retrofit. If anyone knows more, please leave a Comment, thanks.

Joe Scarborough General It appears to be a retrofit or possibly a repair. A 1960 photo of this unit, taken in Hamlet, NC at the head of a passenger train, has the red stripe continuing to the rear. 1/22/2016 11:12:39 PM
