#800736 BIRCH GROVE         
Built in 1950 by Budd in Lot #9660-040 to Plan #9522 as SP 10RM-6DB sleeper #9020, 1 of 25 such cars (#9000-#9024) built in that Lot, which was ordered in June 1948 for the SUNSET LIMITED; cars were delivered between March and June 1950. SP also ordered 5 10RM-6DB sleepers with blunt ends (#9025-#9029) for the SUNSET LIMITED in Lot #9678-040 to Plan #9522A. 20 of the Plan #9522 cars were sold in 1971 to Amtrak as #2680-#2699. 5 of these cars were either wrecked or sold during Amtraks first decade, the remaining 15 were converted to HEP in 1980-1981 as #2442-#2456. These 15 cars received GROVE-series names at that time. #2451 BIRCH GROVE was retired and sold in 1995 to Tom McOwen's Cincinnati Railway Company.
