Long before a GP7 wore the number 1590, this 1914 Alco-Schenectady built Pacific held it. Here it sits in the yard at Keeler Avenue in Chicago, IL, twenty five years after it was built and still looking pretty darned good! The loco was renumbered sometime after 1944 and it lasted on the roster as of 10/1/1952. Finally disposition is unknown. Specifics - 75" drivers, 185 psi boiler pressure, 25x28" cylinders, engine weight of 260,000 lb, tractive effort of 36,692 lb. C.B. Medin photo |
