Both 1977-built, CR C30-7 6609 trails SD40-2 6417 through Bethlehem. CR 6609 was one of a ten unit order of C30-7's in 1977, the first six-axle units purchased by Conrail as a railroad. The star after the road number was placed on C30-7’s 6600-6609 to designate them as part of a cost comparison program with SD40-2’s 6431-6440. |
