GBW 307 - Green Bay & Western  Contributor's Pick!
Milestones in the life of this Alco RS3 - On July 12, 1955, the unit was delivered to GBW equipped with bare carbody filters. In 1973-1974, it was leased to Soo Line as a Steven Point yard switcher, along with GBW #301. In January of 1975, it was rebuilt to RS-20 (2000 HP engine, chopped nose). Between 1982 to October, 1983, it was leased to Little Rock & Western. In 1993, the loco was lettered as Wisconsin Central #307 by painting out the GBW on sides of hood and herald on sides of cab along with white WC initials under cab window. On August, 27, 1993, it was officially retired and then on November, 18, 1994, the unit was finally sold to Minnesota Commercial. In 2001, it was sold again to National Railway Equipment Corp - current condition unknown. On it's trip to NREX this engine spent a day in Green Bay, making it the last GBW loco to pass over home rails. J.M. Seidl slide
