Here is page two of a five-page article by David P. Morgan entitled "Railroading Without Precedent." It was published originally in the February 1951 issue of "Trains" magazine, page 37. Photo Caption: "The Pennsylvania's experiments with four-cylinder, rigid-frame steam locomotives resulted in the building of 52 T-1 4-4-4-4's. Their spike noses and high drivers head-ended PRR's crack trains until the diesel made its inroads. Nos. 5506 and 5516 are at East St. Louis roundhouse." #5506 and #5516 were both built in Juniata. #5506 was built in December of 1945 while #5516 was built in March of 1946; both were retired in December of 1953. |
