East Altoona. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Al Chione that was taken in East Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 17 August 1957. The photographer is not identified. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #304, an I-1SA (2-10-0) "Decapod" built in Juniata as an I-1S during January of 1919, rebuilt as an I-1SA in October of 1940, and retired in August of 1959 after 40 years of faithful service. Also visible at the left is a small portion of the 17th Street Bridge in Juniata. |
