Corps of Engineers
For many years the New Orleans District of the Army Corps of Engineers has had a base of operations along the Mississippi River near AUDUBON PARK. Prior to the modernization of this installation, which began in 1984, there were some railroad tracks here which connected with the New Orleans Public Belt at GOVERNMENT SWITCH. These tracks were occasionally used to bring in pilings and other supplies, but all of these tracks were removed or paved over when almost all of the old structures were replaced. Photographer unknown. (approximate date of photo)
