Top Photo Caption: "Maid-of-all-work train S-97 trundles over the Wilkes-Barre Branch through Mocanaqua, Pa., on a fall day in 1964 behind GP9 7241. Engine #7241 is an EFS-17M built by GM-EMD in October of 1959 and rated at 1,750 horsepower. Bottom Photo Caption: "RS3 8836, still wearing its handrail-like trainphone antenna, visits South Williamsport with a tidy mainline local on March 22, 1965." Engine #8836 is an AS-16M built by the American Locomotive Company in November of 1951, rated at 1,600 horsepower, and retired in January of 1967. |
