Great face shot of a survivor. Reading 4-8-4 #2102 built by Baldwin in 1923 as a 2-8-0 was rebuilt in 1945 as a 4-8-4. Having survived that, it was used in freight service for the Reading until 1956 when it was stored away. The loco was sold to Steam Tours of Akron, OH in 1967. Then it landed on the Blue Mountain & Reading tourist railroad in 1985 where it ran excursions like this photo taken by Scott A. Jenks. In 1990, BMRG reorganized into the Reading, Blue Mountain & Northern (RBMN) where the loco is undergoing restoration with hopes of hitting the rails again. |
