MILW 4-6-0 #1028 was found sitting in the dead line at the Bensenville Yard awaiting the scrapper's torch. Originally built by Baldwin in 10/1901 as Vauclain compound 4-6-0 #388, it was renumbered several times - renumbered in 4/1907 to #1738, renumbered in 10/1912 to #4338, renumbered and simplified in 3/1921 to #2628, renumbered in 6/1938 to #1028. The loco was finally retired in August of 1955. No photographer was listed. |
