Time is against this hard working 4-6-0. In 6 months from the picture date, it will be scrapped in December of 1954. Originally built by Baldwin in October of 1901 as CM&StP Vauclain compound 4-6-0 #391, it was in service for nearly 53 years under many different numbers - renumbered in 7/1907 to #1741, renumbered in 10/1912 to #4341, renumbered and simplified in 9/1918 to to #2891, renumbered in 11/1920 to #2889, renumbered in 6/1938 to #1072. The loco was scrapped in December of 1954. No photographer was listed. |
