Helm Atlantic GP38-2 HATX 209 was at the Kansas City Southern's DERAMUS YARD near Shreveport while on lease to the KCS. This locomotive had been built for TXL Leasing in May 1973 and was leased to the Missouri Pacific as their 958. It was renumbered MP 2109 in 1974, then Union Pacific 2109 in 1986, was retired by the UP on 31 December 1993 and sold to Helm Financial. UP then extended its lease for 90 days. It was returned to Helm in April 1994 and renumbered HATX 209, then it was leased (again) by the UP as the 1839 in 1997, was renumbered UP 339 in 2004 and HLCX 339 in September 2009. The blue and white switcher in the background on the left was KCS MP15DC 4367, formerly Graysonia, Nashville & Ashdown 80. |
