The Slidebroker image by John Hill General Nice photo! FYI your location is listed as Blue Island but actually is Minneapolis. 3/1/2007 3:01:03 PM
KEITH GERSHKOW General A GREAT PLACE TO HANG OUT WHEN I WAS A KID. I USED TO EAT AT THE RESTAURANT INSIDE. KUDUS TO THE MARRIOTT AND THE CITY FOR SAVING THIS BUILDING. 9/17/2008 12:54:12 AM
Howard Brewer General Most definitely Minneapolis. You can tell by the trainshed and the smokestack from the heating plant. Early 60's photo most likely looking at the autos on Washington Ave in the left of the picture.. 2/8/2012 2:54:50 PM
Robert Anderson General Nice indeed. RI #17 Twin Star Rocket and probably Milw #2 power. Real short for complete #2. Leaves at 1215pm 1 hour behind #17 hasn't been fully assembled yet. The Milw RS12 has been busy. After #2 departs, #55 will arrive and it's equipment will also be wyed. This is a stub depot. In fall 1963 TV show Route 66 was filmed here.(3 episodes in Mpls). Right near the end of Season 4 Episode 109 you can see a quick shot of Milw #5 Morning Hiawatha nosed up to the bumper in a scene. The Corvette was parked on Wash Av there but the star in the shot was Milw 34C. It aired on 1/24/64. Now on DVD. Thanks for another good one Marty. 6/25/2018 3:27:34 AM
