UP 2964
Three UP SD40-2s lead a loaded ballast train across Monona Bay. The famous "pink lady" ballast came from the formerly CNW owned quarry at Rock Springs, WI. WSOR handles all switching operations on leased UP tracks in and out of Madison, but UP retains trackage rights to Rock Springs to access the ballast quarry. Madison sometimes sees newer, large GE and EMD power on the rock trains that dwarves the smaller SDs and GPs of the WSOR
