Title:
INLX SC 42
Description:
This is a mystery locomotive, pictured on the Pielet Brothers ( scrapper ) setout track at La Grange, Illinois on November 15, 1964, Ektachrome by Chuck Zeiler. The Unofficial EMD Home Page lists a model SC ( SC = Six hundred horsepower, Cast steel frame ) numbered INLX 42, built in June 1936 by EMC ( c/n 603 ). The paint matches a photo of GTW 7800 in The Second Diesel Spotter's Guide on page EMD 30. However, the paint also matches the two NC2 locomotives built for the MP, while the sandbox matches a half dozen MP model SC locomotives. Likely it was sidelined by availability of parts for the Winton 201-A diesel prime mover. If anyone has any further information, please leave a comment, thanks.
