PRR 6302, AF-27, 1965
Slope to Works. Here is an original photo that I took of Pennsylvania Railroad trains between SLOPE and WORKS Towers in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 06 June 1965. Shown here (L to R) is PRR engine #6302 and two other units whose numbers are not visible. All are AF-27's built by the American Locomotive Company in 1965 and rated at 2,700 horsepower each. They are in the middle of an ore train and are helping to move it up the Allegheny Mountains. Note that the eastbound coal train pulled by PRR engine #9530 is still stopped on the far right track.
